Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Temecula public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
New Year's Eve Grape Drop Location
Staff proposed moving the Grape Drop to Promenade Mall, but the council kept it in Old Town, citing tradition and local businesses. The physical grape lowering will likely be replaced by an animated drone show, and the event will end about a half-hour earlier.
Trail Wayfinding Signage Program
The city is installing signs along its four master-planned trail routes, starting with the Temecula Loop Trail. Bike counts jumped 85% between 2017 and 2026, showing residents are using the network heavily. Phase II may add trailhead signs, quarter-mile markers, and QR codes.
Park restrooms at Vail Ranch and Long Canyon Creek
New restroom construction contracts were awarded for two heavily used parks — a quality-of-life win for families spending the day there with young kids.
Skate park demolition and rebuild
The old Temecula Skate Park is being demolished, with the new park expected to open by the end of the year. Council Member Stewart is handing out concrete keepsakes to nostalgic locals.
